AccessArt Presentation to Primary Educators

AccessArt was founded in 1999 by Paula Briggs and Sheila Ceccarelli, graduates of the Royal College of Art Sculpture School. Established as a charity in 2004 with the aim of furthering advancement in the visual arts.

AccessArt is now the leading provider of digital visual arts resources in the UK, providing inspiration and ideas to the whole community. Their reputation has been built through the vision and hard work of the directors, team and trustees, together with the support of the creative community of over 18,000 artists, teachers and facilitators who use their resources and who also actively contribute their ideas.

In July Penny was asked to present to their members at their ‘join the dots’ conference, her experience of the traits, behaviours and skills of students she receives KS3 students from primary, what she would like to see and what is actually seen. likewise throughout KS4.

The presentation also featured teacher experiences spanning educations all the way through early years up to further education. Audience members were able to visualise the experience and skills that students learn and develop and better able to measure focus priorities when imparting knowledge and inspiring others.

Among other observations Penny said ‘sparking their curiosity is key, encouraging our young people to ask questions and explore what they are learning in relation to themselves is important to their personal development and key to our future artists’.
